Bruce's news 10th April - Gloucester and Man of the Match

Hi Guys

Gloucester at home and a chance to get our own back in front of a sell out crowd. The excitement had been building all week as we trained with high intensity and alot of enthusiasm, gladly this paid off. It was a perfect day for rugby, brilliant sunshine , great atmosphere and a huge team effort from all.

I've been working hard on my game and adjusting to the wing, I just took the chances and made the most of every opportunity, to finish with a try and get the bonus point was the icing on the cake. A Man of the Match performance was a huge honour and a great start to my birthday weekend.

Laura and I enjoyed a meal out and lots of celebratory drinks with friends - Nacho, Tommy, Sean and their lovely wives and Euan, Vicky, John & Tricia - Thanks Guys!

See you next week

Bruce's news 3rd March2009

Hey Guys

We thought we were ready for Newcastle. But it must of been The Worst Start to a game this season! We had 19 unanswered points in the first 11 minutes which is just unacceptable, because as a team we are much better than that, we have worked so hard on our defence yet we let them score 3 easy tries.

We managed to get back into the game but it wasn't enough to come away with a win. We created the opportunities, but didn't finish them off. Overall , it's very disappointing to lose our home record in this way but we must move on and concentrate on Worcester this weekend.
Cheers

Bruce's news 23rd February 2009

Hey Guys

We played with pride and passion but it wasn't good enough. We played in their 22 for long periods of the game but we didn't manage to convert it into points and it cost us. I don't want to point the finger, but some of the decisions made were not in our favour and could of turned the game our way. We left the field very disappointed but at least with a point...and lots to build on in our performance.

Newcastle at home this week and we must keep up our winning record at home.

Cheers Bruza

Bruce's news 17th February 2009

Hey Guys

It was great to be home again in front of your fantastic support! We had a big week at training as we knew what was at stake, although the snow made it very interesting!

Saracens came out of the blocks flying and we did well to absorb the pressure, we made a few little errors which cost us some points and made the game very close. I was happy to get the opportunity to score a try.........

(as it's been a while), and hopefully there will be many more! We hit the second half hard and managed to stay in front and secure the win. Wasps next week and we will need to increase our intensity in the collision area! Cheers, Bruza

Bruce's news 5th February 2009

Hey Guys!

We went down to Quinns feeling positive coming off a good week's hard work, although the way we played it seemed like most of the team were already on holiday! It was a massive disappointment, as leaving with a win would of made our week break alot more enjoyable. Now we have alot of hard work to do physically and mentally to get us back to where we want to be. We have got the goods, we just have to re-focus and work hard together.

I think you've all heard that one of our true saintsmen has left this week, and I personally, as a player and a good friend am sad to see him go. Good luck Carlos!

Onwards and upwards! Looking forward to getting back and making a difference.

Having a great week off with the family enjoying the snow at home!

Cheers Bruce

Bruce's news 28th January 2009

Hi Guys

Two good wins in the ECC, but the performances weren't our best! As they say though, 'A win's a win!' but there's alot of hard work to be done. It was great to be home again and to be back in the 15 shirt. We can take alot of positives out of the second half of the Toulon game and build on this for this weekend's clash against Quinns.

Thank you to everyone for your on going support!

Happy New Year - Bruce's news 4th January 2009

Hey Guys, this was the win we needed over Bristol – shame we didn’t get the fourth try though.  The team played well and it was a good effort, even though I was on the bench.  I found it hard to watch from the sidelines, but the team did well and I was really happy with the effort.

I will now be  training extra hard so I can get ’my chance’ - and I intend to play my way back in to the starting team.

Once again thank you so much for your fantastic support see you on Saturday.

Bruce's News 28th December 2008

Hey Guys!

After a fantastic well earned win at home against Harlequins, we are very disappointed with our efforts at Bath. I thought we were slow to react as a team and a few individual errors (including mine!) put us under unnecessary pressure which Bath converted into points. We were playing catch up but time ran out. It was a long journey back home knowing that we did not play to our potential. We're back training hard preparing for the next 2 crucial weeks ahead.

See you all Saturday at home against Bristol.

Have a happy new year! Cheers Bruza

We worked extremely hard and smart during the week, and that hard work paid off! We were really happy as a team, for what we achieved - 5 points and top of the table, the quarter finals are looking good. We must continue this form on the road building into the Premiership next week.

Clipper Sports Equipment Challenge 14th Nov.

Hey Guys

It's been a very busy week with The Clipper Sports Equipment Challenge and the preparations for my night at the Derngate. A huge THANK YOU to the following schools and all the children involved with collecting the sports equipment and to every single person who has donated their unwanted sports equipment.

Thank you to Northampton School for Boys, Wollaston Primary School, Boothville Primary School, Moulton College and Campion School.

I would love you to join me at the Derngate on Thursday 20th November to experience a truly memorable evening!

You may have seen the article in The Chronicle & Echo and Image Magazine with the editor Ruth Supple talking about my past and my journey to rugby, we've had some great feedback following this and really hope that all the children that may have read it are inspired and know that no one is beyond change and possibilities.

Going onto rugby.... we have a Premiership game this weekend against Bristol that we must win! To climb further up the table and the boys are more than ready for this challenge.

Get your tickets and see Bruce at the Derngate 20th November

Hey Guys

I've recovered from that knock to my head! Teach me for putting my head in the wrong position! I don't remember much of the game after that moment, so it was good to get back home and watch it on Sky plus. It was disappointing that our defence let us down, as this has been a strong point for us in the past. But thankfully our attack was good enough to finish off some good opportunities. I was delighted whilst watching the game back ...that we managed to get the 4th try! Nice one Monty!

Once again thanks for your amazing support, we are now rewarded with a semi-final!

We have a week off now, to rest, recover and train before we head straight into the Premiership again. We must go MAD - make a difference!

Cheers

Bruce's news 19th October 2008

Guess where we were on Tuesday..........?? Thank you so much to Jagger and Woody for helping us out with the Clipper Logistics Sports Equipment Challenge - keep listening to Northants 96!

Bonjour!

We thought Montpellier were going to be tough and we knew we had to be at our best to come away with a win, we got off to a best start possible with a try and a penalty in the first few minutes of the game! They came straight back at us, which is what we expected but we kept our composure, stuck to our game plan and finished off well. The frogs were obviously frustrated which resulted in red cards. The rest is history........... Once again thanks for the fantastic support!....Also a massive thanks to those of you supporting and donating to the Street Children Project in Brazil, looking forward to seeing you all at the Derngate. Cheers Bruza

Bruce's News 4th October2008 -Hi Guys

Sorry it's been a while it's been a busy 2 weeks of rugby and off field commitments.

Saracens - I suppose when you spend so much time as a team without the ball, you are going to struggle to win a game! But we were in it, a few silly mistakes costs us the game.

Leicester - Local derby! What a great game, everyone was up for it big time. But again in the final moments a few silly errors cost us the game. But we're going to keep our heads up as we know we've got the goods, just need to do it for 80 minutes! The Premiership is very unforgiving.....

Toulon - On the road again and a big game in front of us, teams in France are very hard to beat...... so we knew we had to be at our best to compete. Our focus was on a big start and all the boys were really up for it. We played so well as a team and finished off all our challenges and came away with an awesome win. It was fantastic to catch up with the supporters after the game and thank you for making the journey! Come to the derngate guys 20th November get tickets!

Hey guys,

What a great day! Fantastic weather and a good hard fought game of rugby, as well as a great feeling to be winners. I've got to say a huge thank you for all your support, the atmosphere and noise you guys created was AMAZING and inspired all the boys on the pitch! I must have left my kicking boots at home, as you all know it wasn't a great day at the office! I will continue to work hard and make a difference as I know it is vital in the games ahead.

Onwards & upwards! Looking forward to putting our heads down this week and working hard in preparation for our two away games.

Cheers Bruza

All the hard work paid off and the game was very exciting.  To come away with the first win of the season was great. We also have lots to work on for this week but we are all very excited

Saints  66 - 0   Benetton Treviso Franklin's Gardens Hey guys – fantastic to be back at Franklin’s Gardens playing in the premiership -

“back where we belong!”  Your support was immense. What an amazing amount of noise you made.  It was so encouraging and we all really appreciated it - thank you. Bruza

I am also going to work on my kicking, there are no excuses and no explanations. I am going to make all ‘bad’ good and keep me and my team positive.  It is my hope that I lead by example and if I let every moment that did not go our way effect the standard of our game - me and the boys would NOT stay in the premiership. Thanks to Alisdair Felstead for your kind words that you sent me via my contact page - really appreciate that mate!

Subject: Why I love Bruce
Message: Hi
I always have Bruce Reihana painted on my face 'cos he is the best full back ever. Me and my little brother Toby always shout 'Brooce Brooce Brooce' when the guys are warming up and he always has time for a quick thumbs up or high fives! When Bruce scores I like it best when he does his swallow dives as they are great and I wish I could score like that! from Jack

Saints v Western Force 23rd August Bruce's thoughts: .........

This was a challenge coming up against a Super 14 side who have already played to those new rules.  It was a good chance for us to try our game plan and test the set of rules – things did not quite go our way but we finished off to go with a win.

Also this little fella I see every week – his name is Jack this is what he emailed to the site and it was really encouraging.  Please keep your messages coming in and especially the questions you want to ask me when I am at the Derngate on the 20th November

News 23rd August 2008

Hi guys

France was a success even though the result did not go our way.

We trained very hard at the start of the week and we went through the new rules for the season ahead. We worked on our game plan a lot and the contact area.

The weather was not great so we did not get much time to check out the sites but we saw enough to enjoy our selves – after all we were there to train and to play rugby.

I do now understand why the French love their coffee – it was exceptional.  Thanks Bruza

Bruce's caps are being made and will be in the store shortly.

News Bruce Meets Ruth and Izaias - president of Brazilian Street Children Project

Ruth and Izaias were in the UK for a short visit to see their Northampton Family. Bruce and Laura met with them to discuss the street children project and how the money raised from the evening at the Derngate on the 20th November will be used.

It is very exciting how Sport can be an incentive to rescue children from the streets channeling their energy away from a possible life of violence crime and drugs. This Project is fantastic, every penny raised goes directly to the orphanage, school and sports complex - so please please support Bruce! Hey guys ,

Another hard week at work. Now we are getting into more rugby drills and team patterns instead of full on fitness, well to be fair its a mixture of both. It's very exciting to see all our hard work put into action. Three more weeks till we take to the field in our first warm up game and I can't wait!

I had one of my mates from N.Z come and stay for the weekend, Ron Cribb. We haven't seen each other or talked for over four years so it was great to catch up and talk about the past and plans for the future.

Left a picture of me and my boy taken on Friday afternoon after a hard week at training.

Thanks guys! Bruza

We were granted a week off after all the hard work that was put in. So myself, Laura and the children had a weeks holiday in Crete, we stayed at the Sensatori which was lovely. Great place to take the kids, lots of pools, games room, activities, basketball and football coaching. But no rugby...think I should have a word!? Haha!

Although this was a holiday, I still had to follow a training programme and train twice daily! I combined this with runs on the beach & basketball court & training in the gym.

We all had a great time, arrived home yesterday and training resumed with the team today.

Cheers

Good luck on the upcoming season. From Russell"

The training has begun - big time!

Hey guys

The holidays are over and the hard work has begun. It's been 2 weeks back into training and so far it's been the hardest pre-season training we've ever had! I have a top class blister on my ankle from running miles and miles. The hard work is needed as we must make a difference this year. The new guys that have joined the squad have fitted in well and it's going to be an exciting season ahead with some new faces and strong characters!

Well done to Simon and his team from Lighthouse IFA who won the bid for my cup winning boots and montage! Hope that they bring you as much luck as they bought me! Also monies raised are going to the project I am supporting in Brazil.

Also thank you so much to Christa for taking the time to contact me and give me some class advice on how to avoid and treat blisters your kindness is very much appreciated. Compeed plasters - we are on to it!

Bruce's news for 19th April 08

Hey guys

The game on Saturday wasn't pretty...but we got the win!! Just 1 game left now and couldn't ask for more than to play it at home in front of you fantastic fans.

Most of the team got dressed up on Monday - wigs & bad shirts... (mine was an afro)! and went to support the Wanderers at Henley. Was a disappointing performance, but they have another chance to make it right at home next Monday. Go the boys!!

The Awards dinner last night was a great night! Especially for me, picking up the Player of the Season award for a second time. A huge thanks to everyone who voted for me, it was big surprise and an honor. It was my personal target at the beginning of the season and to achieve this really makes this a season to remember. I'd like to thank John Sharp and his wife Tricia for having us on his table for the evening - Laura & I had a great night - cheers mate!

Bruce's news for 12th April 08

.Hey guys,

Twickenham.... what a fantastic place to play a final, and even better to win it in front of you fantastic fans and my family, talking of which, it was amazing to run out of the tunnel with my son Evaan as club mascot. The atmosphere was unbelievable, the noise of the crowd kept us wanting to give more, I think we out-numbered all the other team's supporters, and if not it certainly sounded like it. Well done guys! And thanks for meeting us back at the gardens to help us celebrate the win.

I was extremely proud to lead the team to this win as club captain, I am also proud of the boy's hard work and effort they have put in all season to get us were we are now. Its not over yet we have two games to go and we must finish with bang!

Thanks again you guys - your awesome! Bruza

Bruce's news for 5th April 08

Hey!!

31 games down and 3 to go!!...Including our Cup Final.

Coventry played some good rugby at the weekend and made some in roads. Their rushed defense caught us out a few times and for a while the game was close. But our team strung some good phases together and finished off with some good tries.

However once again the Ref didn't help us, and yes I heard you supporters from the sideline..."Are we playing against 16 men?!" and I had been thinking the same myself!

I'm relieved to have the game out of the way and now our total focus is on Twickenham and running out to our fantastic supporters!

I enjoyed a lovely day out yesterday with my family, celebrating another year gone by. Older & Bolder!

Really looking forward to working hard this week and catch you at Twickenham. Bruza

Bruce's news for 29th March 08 ..............

Saints v Nottingham Home.

Hi Guys

Nottingham played some good rugby on Saturday and put us under pressure, we weren't able to capitalize on the breaks we made which indicated in the score line. We were happy with the win but very frustrated in the performance as we made a lot of simple errors. We will be working hard this week to improve our skills and our game plan for the weeks ahead.

Thanks again for your support and see you next week!
Bruza

Bruce's news for 22nd March 08

Hi Guys

At the end of last season, I said I was going to get us up to the Premiership and with the hard work put in by the players, coaches and the support of our fans we have achieved our goal.

We knew the game was going to be hard fought and messy at times, but we also knew if we stuck to our game plan and held onto the ball, we could build a score. Going into half time we were pretty happy and had to start the second half keeping the pace up and running Exeter off their feet. We had many opportunities to put a score on the board but failed to do so, so when the final whistle went we were relieved to finish the game knowing we had done what we needed to do.

Thanks to everyone for braving the weather and see you all in the Premiership!

Bruza

Keep visiting the site!

Bruce's news for 15th March 08

We had a very good build up during the week as we knew there was a reward of a trip to Twickenham in front of us – As the weather was very wet and windy we knew we had a very big challenge ahead of us but we were very confident in our ability to impose ourselves on Plymouth. With a couple of early mistakes which lead to Plymouth getting early points on the board – we re-gathered our thoughts and implemented our game plan (big time) and then they gave us some early penalties which we took full advantage of. All the boys worked very hard together and managed to pull of a very hard win in very tough conditions.

And massive thanks to all our fans that made the long journey! - and I can tell you that seeing you all in the crowd (some faces which are now really familiar) to me was really overwhelming.

I really felt supported by you al guys .....so keep on coming, keep on shouting, and keep on enjoying the rest of the season.

Bruce's news for 7th March 08

Hi Guys!

Even though it was only a two-day turnaround, the boys were really up for this game! The atmosphere on a night game is totally electric, especially when playing in front of a home crowd. I thought it was a great team effort and well done to the young boys that played.

And of course I was extremely happy to be on the receiving end of another ha trick, I hope there’s more to come.
